HIV/AIDS Education and Training
The Pacific AIDS Education and Training Center at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California offers educational programs for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, dentists, dental hygienists, pharmacists, and other health care professionals.
Types of programs range from didactic lectures to seminars and interactive workshops, to clinical and consultative training and technical assistance. Programs can be presented at your clinic or worksite for medical providers, dental practitioners, nursing staff, general clinic staff, etc.
The majority of costs associated with our education and training programs is covered by federal grants from the HIV/AIDS Bureau of HRSA. Therefore, there is minimal or NO charge to participants and trainees.
Lectures, Seminars and Workshops
Examples of educational programs we offer include:
- Presentations and up-dates on HIV/AIDS
This type of program will be tailored for medical, dental, nursing, or for your general staff.
- Adherence to Treatment, Risk Assessment and Counseling Workshops
Standardized Patient Workshops
These are small group interactive sessions for medical and nursing staff. We bring a standardized patient (actor portraying a real patient case) for the providers to interview and counsel in this structured workshop. These workshops are from 1.5 to 2 hours long.
- HIV/AIDS and the Workplace
These are seminars designed primarily for nursing, support and office staff. These are interactive sessions with participants discussing specific case vignettes.
If you are interested in having us come to your site to present an educational program, please contact us.
