Joyce M. Galligan, RN, DDS
Dental Clinical Trainer
Dr. Joyce M. Galligan is a graduate of Mt. St. Mary’s College (BSN 1986) and the University of Southern California School of Dentistry (DDS 1995). Currently she is a full-time Assistant Professor of Clinical Dentistry at USC as well as the Director of the Medical Emergency Response Team.
Dr. Galligan is the lead dental examiner of the NIDCR funded Oral Component of the Women’s Interagency HIV Study (WIHS). She recently completed a phase three research study for a Texas drug company offering alpha interferon lozenges for Primary Sjogrens sufferers – to help ease their dry mouth symptom.
Besides being a clinical faculty member at USC, Dr. Galligan teaches the dental and dental hygiene students Infection Control. Also, she teaches an “Introductory to Physical Evaluation” to the International Students. She is a “Visiting Instructor for “Dental Materials” for the Hygiene Program at Oxnard College.
Dr. Galligan also lectures (on CE circuit) on topics of OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Regulations, Hepatitis, Infection Control, Tuberculosis, and Managing Medical Emergencies in the Dental Office.
